Yes, sung in my best Olaf the Snowman voice, I am belting out “In Summer!!” throughout the house.

Memorial Day signals the kick-off of summer. All things warm and sunshiney.

My summer memories are some of the best memories I have. Most of them go back to when I was a kid, running around barefoot, spending the day at the beach, afternoons at the pool, evenings running around playing kick the can and ghost in the graveyard.

The freedom of summer was wonderful. Everything was more relaxed. Eating outside made food taste more delicious. Salt air and sunshine put everyone in a good mood.

Summertime when you are a kid is the best. Being dismissed that last day of school, the summer months stretching out in front of you- did it get any better?

Even though I won’t be dismissed for a summer of fun, I still plan on giving my kids all the summertime experiences I loved when I was younger. Here is my 50 Must-Have Experiences of Summer for kids!

  1. Love this! All those simple moments that are such perfect parts of summer that we often overlook. Thanks for the reminder to be present and celebrate the small things. Thanks for linking up at the #smallvictoriessundaylinky! You’ve been pinned to the group board. 🙂

  3. 1. A baseball game is a must – especially a day game. Perfect reason to skip work and take a kid to the ballpark.

    2. Barbecue. Here in the Carolinas, we do it year-round, but in summer, it just feels right.

    3. Go camping. Spring can be brutal overnight (40 feels like 20 when you’re sleeping on the ground), so it’s time to pitch a tent.

  4. What a wonderful list of summertime activities! It’s hot here so we’ve already started on this list and have run through the sprinklers a few times. We planted our garden and I can’t wait to make fresh salsa! Thanks for sharing with Small Victories Sunday linky. Hope you join us again, new linky starts tonight!

I posted this list of fun things all kids should do in summer, and we managed to put a good dent in it. I hope everyone else was able to cross off a lot of these as well! If not, you’ve got Labor Day Weekend to end the summer on a high note!
