Today Sweets and I are rockin’ our Evan’s Crew t-shirts in support of Team Evan’s Crew as they prepare to go to battle. Their battle begins by finishing the 163 mile bike ride for the Pan-Mass Challenge to raise money for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and specifically to a fund supporting DIPG research.
DIPG, otherwise known as Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, the monster that is a rare pediatric brain cancer that stole Evan, an “awesome dude”, a son, a brother, a grandchild, a nephew, a friend….
DIPG is the monster that the team of 9 will ride against.
DIPG is the monster that needs to be brought down, and the only way to do that is finding a cure. Because right now, only 10% diagnosed with DIPG survive longer than 18 months.
Evan died one year to the day of his diagnosis.
Because his family, his friends, his neighbors, his school, his community…..they have all come out to support and show that DIPG is NOT going to win this war. This war against pediatric cancer that is fought bravely one battle, by one undeserving child, at a time.
Unfortunately, too many brave battles have been lost already.
Team Evan’s Crew wants to change this.
So one mile at a time, they are going to cruise 163 miles in 2 days to show DIPG that Team Evan’s Crew is worthy of the fight. They are coming in strong, are going to finish strong…..and they will be back. One ride, two rides, a dozen rides….Team Evan’s Crew will only grow, and DIPG will begin to lose.
And with everyone’s help, because FUNDING is our main defense, the main way to find a cure for this disease that affects over 100 children every year, this disease that has already taken the lives of too many children, Evan’s Crew can beat this monster.
Evan’s Crew v. DIPG.
It is rivalry no family ever wants to enter. It is a fight Evan’s Crew is taking on because, well….they have to.
Team Evan’s Crew v. DIPG.
GO TEAM EVAN’S CREW!
Have a great crazy day!
